Before You Start
This form must be submitted no later than two working days before the date of the Planning meeting. For a Thursday meeting this would be a deadline of Tuesday.
Speaking slots are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Usually one speaker is allowed to speak for and one speaker allowed to speak against an application, but there are exceptions.
Each speaker is permitted to speak for three minutes only.
We will ask you for
- The reference number of the application you wish to speak about
- Description and location of the application
- Date of the meeting you wish to attend
- Agenda item number
- Whether you object to or support the application
- Your contact details
- Whether you are happy for your details to be shared with people who are supporting and/or objecting to the application
What happens next
You must click ‘submit’ at the end of the process to submit your application to speak. If you do not click ‘submit’ your request will not be sent. Once you have submitted your application to respect you will receive an acknowledgement email from the Council. The acknowledgement email is only to confirm receipt of your application to speak and should not be taken as confirmation that you have been successful in your application to speak at the meeting.
Your application to speak will be dealt with by a member of the Democratic Services team as soon as is practicably possible after we receive it and you will be contacted in due course to advise if your application to speak has been successful. Please keep hold of your acknowledgement email until you receive confirmation from Democratic Services as to the outcome of your application to speak as it is proof that you have submitted your request.
You should receive the acknowledgement email within an hour of submitting your request to speak. If you have not please check your email spam folders for an email from ‘no-reply@dover.gov.uk’. If after doing that you have still not received the acknowledgement email please contact democraticservices@dover.gov.uk and we will look into the matter.
Please note that all applications to speak at Planning Committee should be made through this website using the provided form. Democratic Services will not accept applications to speak at Planning Committee by email.
